The Secret's Out

The Secret's Out

Kenneth E. Hagin

There is a secret in everything.

There is a secret number by which a safe can be unlocked. There are secrets by which nature’s mighty forces can be harnessed and used. There is a secret that opens Heaven. And there is a secret that commands all of the forces and resources of the throne of God.

Because God is eternal, His power has been in existence forever. And His power is the same today as it always was. People just haven’t known how to tap into it. But thank God, the Bible tells us how.

Tapping Into God’s Power
The healing of the two blind men in Matthew chapter 9 illustrates three important principles on how to unleash the power of God.

Matthew 9:27–30

27 And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou son of David, have mercy on us.
28 And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord.
29 Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.
30 And their eyes were opened. . . .

These verses show that mere prayer will not heal the sick. The two blind men cried out to Jesus, saying, “Thou son of David, have mercy on us.” Yet this brought no reply from Jesus.
People have said to me, “I have been praying for my healing for years, and I’m no better.” A lot of times, people are depending upon prayer to heal them, not upon Jesus. They think that prayer alone will get the job done, and it won’t.

Then there are people who think that prayer works better if they get many people to pray for them. But it’s not the number of people who pray that unlocks Heaven. It’s not agonizing in prayer that gets the job done.

Faith Moves God
I am not belittling prayer. But I am saying that all of our prayer is of no avail unless we believe that God will do for us what we claim. Jesus said in Matthew 9:29, “. . . According to your faith be it unto you.”

Most folks would be glad if they were told to do something hard. They would do it. But they stumble over the simplicity of faith.

God Is Able
Notice what Jesus asked the two blind men: “Believe ye that I am able to do this?” (v. 28). God wants to help people, and He tells us what to do to get into position where He can help us: “Without faith it is impossible to please him [God] . . .” (Heb. 11:6). You can’t come to God without faith.

First, we must believe that God is able to answer our prayers. Whatever we need, we have to ask ourselves, “Is God able?” Yes, He is. “Can He do it?” Yes, He can.

God Is Willing
After we believe God is able, let’s not stop there. Second, we must believe that God is willing.

Matthew 8:2–3
2 Behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
3 And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Heb. 13:8).

If He was willing to heal the leper, he is also willing to heal us today. But we can’t stop here either.

People have remained sick while believing that God is able and willing to move on their behalf. We must take the third step of faith.

Mark 11:24
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

This verse says that when we believe we receive whatever we are praying for, we will have it. This is where many people miss it.

They are waiting until they “see” the answer to their prayer before they believe.

Their faith is not in what God said, but in what their physical senses tell them. But it’s when we dare to believe the Word of God regardless of what we see around us that we will see the answer to our prayers.

These three simple steps of faith—believing that God is able and willing to answer our prayers, and believing that we receive what we ask Him for when we ask— outline how we can tap into the resources of Heaven.

It doesn’t matter what our needs are: healing, finances, wisdom, peace, and so forth. Whatever we need from God is available through simple faith in Him.
