2009 Year in Review: Working Together To Reach the World!

2009 Year In Review

Pacific Rim Trip
Shortly after the close of a Sunday morning RHEMA Bible Church service in April, Kenneth and Lynette Hagin and a crew of five began a 21,668-mile trip to the lush tropics of Southeast Asia. Hopscotching across the equator, they traveled to Thailand, Singapore, and Indonesia.

Imagine a city so crowded with people and traffic that it takes two hours to drive seven miles. That’s what it’s like to drive in Jakarta, Indonesia, where RHEMA Indonesia is located. Most people would become irritated at the snail’s pace on the streets. Not Kenneth and Lynette Hagin. They look out the windows of their car and see souls—hundreds of thousands of men, women, and children who have never heard the Good News of Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection.

Then imagine an ultra-modern, highly cosmopolitan country that is very rich by the world’s standards but very poor spiritually. This is Singapore. In 2001, RHEMA Singapore was established to train Christians to bring spiritual freedom to this nation. Finally, imagine Thailand—a place where it’s common to see elephants and luxury cars sharing the same street, but also a country where Buddhism is deeply entrenched. Thank God, RHEMA USA graduates established RHEMA Thailand there in 2000.

Now imagine how proud Kenneth and Lynette Hagin were to hand out diplomas to the 2009 graduates of these schools. Armed with the authority they have as believers and the knowledge of who they are in Christ, these graduates are well prepared to take the Gospel message to their predominantly Muslim and Buddhist cultures.

Going Down Under

It’s a little over 3,000 miles from Jakarta, Indonesia, to Brisbane, Australia. And then it’s another 2,000 miles to fly to Apia, Samoa, from Brisbane. That’s like traveling in the U.S. from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean and then back to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Why would Kenneth and Lynette Hagin fly all that distance to spend only a day at the RHEMA international training centers located in these countries? They understand the importance of multiplying themselves. They can’t go to the uttermost parts of the earth by themselves and teach those who live there. But they can train others who can. That’s why they pour everything they have into RBTC students, whether those students are sitting in classrooms in RHEMA USA or in RHEMA South Pacific and the newly reopened RHEMA Australia.

RHEMA Bible Church Arrowhead Backpack Outreach

Ministry is all about people—and in this case, young people. And ministry is not always about preaching to someone; it’s about ministering to their needs. This year, RHEMA Bible Church “adopted” Arrowhead Elementary School in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and provided backpacks filled with school supplies for 440 students.

South Of The Border
Built on the ruins of the Aztec city of Tenochtitlán, Mexico City is one of the world’s largest urban centers. It is home to some of Mexico’s wealthiest and poorest people, and it is ripe for harvest. What better place to establish RHEMA Mexico! In May, Kenneth and Lynette proudly participated in RHEMA Mexico’s 10th graduation ceremony. Kenneth delivered the commencement address to graduates eager to take the message of faith to their country and neighboring nations.

Four degrees north of the equator in the mountain city of Bogotá, Colombia, Kenneth and Lynette Hagin dedicated the new four-story building that houses RHEMA Bible Church Colombia and RHEMA Colombia. This nation has long struggled with internal conflict, but the graduates of RHEMA Colombia have learned how to look beyond circumstances and enforce the Word of God in their lives and in their country. They are determined to make a mark for God and demonstrate His power to the citizens of Colombia.

RHEMA Bible Church Youth Missions Trip
Kenneth W. Hagin has a passion to see the lost saved. That’s what drives him. And you can’t be around him for long before you develop a passion for souls too. That’s why 45 teenagers from RHEMA Bible Church’s AXIS® youth group went to Campina Grande, Brazil. Many people travel to Brazil for its natural beauty and carnival, but not these kids. They wanted to make a mark in the lives of young Brazilians. And what a mark they made: 587 salvations, numerous healings, and many Brazilians filled with the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues!

The Hagins’ international trips were sandwiched between extensive travel throughout the U .S. to hold special meetings and Living Faith Crusades.

You don’t find Kenneth and Lynette Hagin home very much. In between teaching students at RHEMA Bible Training Center in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and ministering to their congregation at RHEMA Bible Church, almost every month they conduct a Living Faith Crusade somewhere in North America. And during the months they are home, they host Winter Bible Seminar, Campmeeting, the Ministers, Leadership & Helps Conference, the Kindle the Flame® Women’s Conference, and Kenneth W. Hagin’s men’s conference, A Call to Arms®. Also, they meet prospective students twice a year during RHEMA College Weekends.

You might think that they would slow down. After all, Kenneth W. Hagin celebrated his 70th birthday and 50 years in ministry this year. But not the Hagins. That’s because they are dedicated to fulfilling the mandate God gave Kenneth E. Hagin: “Go teach My people faith.” And they won’t rest until the message of faith has been carried and taught to people in crowded cities, remote villages, and every place in between.
