Activate: His Power, Your Call, Their Future

Campmeeting Youth: ActivateAnswering the Call

To Activate verb: “to make something active or operational.”

Activate is exactly what happened to the more than 500 youth who attended Summer Blitz 2010, AXIS® Youth Ministries’ annual event held in conjunction with Campmeeting.

Following this year’s theme—“Activate: His Power. Your Call. Their Future.”—Summer Blitz teens were taught, encouraged, and equipped to change their world by answering God’s call on their lives. In a timely message that most youth could relate to, Brent Bailey, RHEMA Bible Church senior high youth minister, exhorted the teens to “Activate Your Call.” God has called each of you to do something for Him, he said, whether in full-time ministry or in the business world. Holding up his cell phone, Bailey said, “God is calling
each of you! It’s time to answer that call so He can get some things done on the earth!” As the service ended, youth flooded the altar to commit to answer the call God has placed on their lives.

Many youth feel they have so many problems that they’ll never be able to help someone else. Keith Nachbor, RHEMA Bible Church junior high youth minister, spoke powerfully to the teenagers about overcoming their own distractions and struggles so they will be able to minister to others. “Distractions make it difficult to do what God has called you to do,” Nachbor said. “Whatever you’re dealing with right now, if you overcome it, at some point you’ll be able to help someone who is struggling with the same thing.”

The week ended with a day-long trip to an area water park, followed by a concert that night with The Laura Cooke Band, The AXIS® Worship Band, and Unhindered. The youth left activated by God’s power to answer their call to change the future of everyone they meet!

Summer Blitz Online

For the first time in Summer Blitz history, conference sessions were streamed live over the Internet at www.axisyouth.com. Nearly 800 different people logged on, with almost 1,700 total views. The power of God manifested during Summer Blitz 2010 touched people’s lives across the United States.

One 15-year-old boy remembered late Wednesday that a friend had told him the services were being broadcast online. He logged on just as Keith Nachbor was ministering at the altar to youth who wanted
to be filled with the Holy Ghost. As Nachbor led them in a prayer, the teenager sitting in front of his computer in his bedroom prayed with them . . . and began speaking in tongues! The power of God had been activated in his life.

Speakers Quotes

Kristina Butler

Kristina Butler’s question for the teenagers was “Who is He to you?” In her message, she stressed the importance of knowing Jesus not only as our Savior, but also as our Lord. “He’s either both or neither,” Butler said. “We can’t halfway belong to the Lord and halfway belong to the world. It’s time for us to stop being ‘secret agent Christians,’ because some people will only see Jesus through you.

Erinn Hankins

Errin Hankins encouraged Summer Blitz youth to be people God can demonstrate Himself through no matter where they are. “God wants to use you outside of the walls of the church,” she said. “He wants you to be His go-to person—someone He can count on. God has specific instructions for each one of us. And when He calls you, He will be with you every step of the way!” Responding to her call for commitment, a room full of fired-up teenagers ran to the altar asking God to make them demonstrators of His power.

Shelly Love

Shellie Love talked to the youth about the Christian nature. “Dogs bark,” she said. “When your dog barks, you’re not amazed by it. Cats meow. That is their nature. Christians  should walk in the Spirit, defy the devil, change lives, and demonstrate being a Christian. It’s our nature. It should be the norm.” At the end of her message, hundreds of youth filled the altar, committing to reach and disciple at least one person a month for Jesus.
