Giving Thanks—Every Day

This is the time of year when we gather together with family and friends to observe a special day of thanksgiving. Turkey dinners and football games will abound as old memories are rehashed and new memories are made. But most of all, this should be a day when we express our thanks to our Heavenly Father.

It's proper to give thanks to God for what Jesus Christ did for us. No one else could do what He did. No one else could save us.

What to Do When You Want to Quit

One of the most important lessons to learn in life is to stay where God has called you—especially when everything inside you wants to quit. God will help you when you're where He wants you to be, doing what He's called you to do.

In the Bible, when people were where God told them to be, they were blessed. God called Abraham to a certain land and blessed him there (see Gen. 12:1–3). God told Elijah to go to the Brook Cherith. And at that particular brook God provided for him during a time of famine (see 1 Kings 17:3–6).

Standing Firm

"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."
—John 10:10

There are two sides to John 10:10. The devil's side is to steal, kill, and destroy. Jesus' side is to give abundant life. For many people, living in abundance seems elusive.

Call Upon the Lord

It's so wonderful to be able to call upon the Lord in prayer and come boldly into His presence! Sometimes we don't know how desperately we need God's peace until we get into His presence.

Our Heavenly Father has much to tell us, but we have to take the time to commune with Him. The more we do that, the more we will experience His peace.

How Should We Pray?

WOF 10 2012 Pic1//Lynette Hagin

We are told in First Peter 4:7, "The end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer." We don't have to look far to see that we are living in perilous times. Peter admonishes us to watch unto prayer. Some may wonder, "How should we pray?" Paul's instructions to Timothy give us some answers.
