Living by the Spoken Word

01 Pic 1Heart to Heart | January 2014

We sometimes forget that Jesus lived as a man. He had emotions; He had desires. The Word of God says that He endured everything—every temptation—that man would ever endure. And He overcame!

Wait! One Step at a Time!

A good lesson I learned when my husband and I first started working at Kenneth Hagin Ministries was how to wait on God. It was a hard lesson, and at first it gave me a lot of grey hair.

You see, I'm a "happener"! If something needs to be done, I will make it happen. It was my responsibility to carry out the decisions of my father-in-law, the late Kenneth E. Hagin. But before I could do anything, I had to wait until he decided what to do. And he was never in a hurry when it came to making decisions.

Fear Not

Almost all of us have experienced some measure of intimidating fear in our life—and it's not a good feeling. It is tormenting and uncomfortable. And if we don't purpose in our hearts to conquer it, we will never accomplish much for God.

Satan loves it when we're intimidated. When we view ourselves as unqualified and insignificant, lacking confidence and feeling insecure, we play right into his hands.

Why do we let the enemy influence us? John 8:44 says he isn't capable of speaking the truth. When he says, "You can't do that!" "Who do you think you are?"—he's lying!

Supernaturally Led

//Timeless Teachings of Kenneth E. Hagin

Too often, we seek guidance every other way except the way God said it was to come. We judge by our physical senses, or we look at things from a mental standpoint. Meanwhile, our spirit is kept locked away in prison, so to speak, and is not permitted to function.

But our Heavenly Father said, "The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord" (Prov. 20:27). That means He will enlighten and guide us through our spirits.

Called to Serve

01 Pic 5b// SPECIAL REPORT: MISSIONS

God has placed many gifts in the Body of Christ. But not everyone is called to be in the forefront. For every person God calls to pioneer a ministry—whether in the United States or abroad—He calls many others to walk alongside them and help. Larry Brown, a 1989 graduate of Rhema Bible Training College USA, is one of those called to help.

"The Bible says we should have the same attitude that Christ had when He humbled Himself and became a servant," says Larry. "I've never lost sight of that. Jesus came to serve, and that's my heart as well. Everything I do is driven by that."

Larry's heart to serve has taken him to 20 nations. But one has stood out from the others: Ethiopia.

Will You Conquer or Quit?

John 10:10 in the Amplified Bible reads, "I [Jesus] came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows)."

That life in abundance—to the full, till it overflows—speaks of God's highest and best, doesn't it? This is what God intends for every one of His children. Yet so many aren't enjoying this kind of overflowing life.

Investing God's Way

"My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Phil. 4:19

There is a law of sowing and reaping in both the natural and the spiritual realms. And it's a law that works! Yet from my experience, more people fail when it comes to faith for finances than for anything else. The reason is that they're trying to exercise faith for finances, but they haven't planted any seed! They want God to bless their finances even though they haven't sown anything.

Feeling Buried? Let God Dig You Out

01 Pic 8//Craig Hagin

I recently came across the story of a father who ran to check on his young son after a powerful earthquake hit the area they lived in. When this father reached the school where his son had been, he found nothing but a pile of rubble and debris.

As other parents stood by crying, this father began to dig. Though many people told him it was useless and tried to pull him away, he kept at it. Stone by stone, beam by beam, he dug through the night and into the next day.

Seed Thoughts January 2014

"The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be Like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail." —Isaiah 58:11 (NIV 1984)

Do you have certain scriptures that you review continually? One that I read all the time is Jeremiah 29:11: " 'For I know the plans I have for you,' says the Lord. 'They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope' " (NLT). I read this verse continually for two reasons: First, to remind myself to fulfill God's plans for my life; and second, to realize that, however challenging they may seem, God's plans will always turn out for good and not be disastrous.
