"When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, 'Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?' So they said, 'Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.' He said to them, 'But who do you say that I am?' Simon Peter answered and said, 'You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.' "
—Matthew 16:13–16 (NKJV)
Today people are splitting theological hairs over the question, "Who is Jesus?"
Some say, "He was a mere man." Others argue, "He wasn't a mere man. He was a great teacher." Or "He was a great prophet." "He was the greatest moral person who ever lived."
Jesus was the greatest teacher the world has ever known. He was the greatest preacher the world has ever heard. But He is more than all of this.
Jesus is the Friend to the friendless.
He is the Physician to the sick.
He is the Psychiatrist to the confused.
He is the Banker to the poor.
He is the Compass to the traveler.
He is the Bright and Morning Star
to the one walking in darkness.
He is the One Who Rose from the dead.
He is the Savior from every sin.
He is the Christ, the Son of the
If I had a thousand tongues and a thousand lives, I could never tell all that Christ is. As the Apostle John said on one occasion, "There are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written" (John 21:25 NKJV).
Jesus wants you to know Him and all that He is. And you can know Him—the Christ, the Son of the Living God. Simply pray the following prayer from your heart:
I come to You in Jesus' Name. I admit that I have sinned and come short of Your standard. Thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus, to pay the price for my sins. Jesus, thank You for dying on the cross for me. I ask You to be my Savior and Lord. I trust You to be everything I need. Through You, I receive God's free gift of eternal life.
Thank You for saving me!
