Heart To Heart April 2013

Stay With the Obvious

In the midst of the tests and trials we face in life, we must remember that God is there to help us. Many people forget the truth of what the Word says as they go through difficulties. Their troubles weigh so heavy on them that they can't see anything but the problem.

Remember the prophet Elisha's servant in Second Kings chapter 6? He saw the city surrounded with an army of horses and chariots and asked Elisha, "'Oh, my lord, what shall we do?' " (v. 15 NiV 1984). The prophet answered, " 'Don't be afraid. . . . Those who are with us are more than those who are with them' " (v. 16 NiV 1984).

Scripture tells us that Elisha prayed for the servant's eyes to be opened and he saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire. As the enemy came toward the city, the lord struck them with blindness (2 Kings 6:18).

Elisha wasn't oblivious to the problem, but he was conscious that God was greater than anything that surrounded him. He looked past the problem to the Problem Solver.

You see, we may be surrounded by negative circumstances, but we don't have to live there. The enemy may be telling us that we can't make it or that God is not big enough to take care of us, but that's untrue!

We must not become oblivious to the obvious truth that God is there all the time. And obviously, our faith in Him and His Word will cause us to live successfully. Obviously, Christ won the victory at calvary, so we have victory now. Obviously, we who are in Christ cannot be defeated if we will not quit.

With God, all things are possible! And He will bring us out of every trouble when we do not become oblivious to the obvious truths of His Word.

This issue of The Word of Faith contains some wonderful, "obvious" truths on faith, healing, and redemption that I encourage you to grab hold of. Don't miss a single page!
